One More Day
This is a poem written and dedicated to my brother who died of cancer in May,2002. It was read at his funeral.
One More Day
I asked GOD for one more day
for my brothers wife
so she could tell him just how much
she had enjoyed sharing his life
I asked GOD for one more day
for my brothers kids
so they could say they loved him
and give him one last kiss
I asked GOD for one more day
for my mothers sake
so she could hug him one last time
for soon her heart would break
I asked GOD for one more day
so my sister could say goodbye
she did it with dignity
trying not to cry
I asked GOD for one more day
for his brothers far and near
so they could come and say goodbye
to one they held so dear
I asked GOD for one more day
but it was not to be
One more day would only cause
more pain and agony
I asked God for one more day
but alas his time was done
the angels came one summer morn
and took our loved one home.
This is a fun poem. Keep in mind that I am definately not a poet.
A Lovely Day
A snake slithered across the grass
it was after a frog
the frog was moving as fast as it could
trying to reach the log
A cat came slinking through the grass
after the snake, you see
then a dogs bark could be heard
as he came running through the trees
The dog bit down on the cats tail
and the cat let out a screech
the snake slithered as fast as could be
out of the cats reach
the frog jumped with all its might
reaching the waters so clear
and the frog jumped up
glad it was free
then the snake slithered up a tree
the cat ran home where it could play
the dog ran and barked
it was a lovely day
